India Chem 2026 Opens in Mumbai; Nadda Calls Proposed BHAVYA Rasayan Scheme for Three Chemical Parks a "Game Changer"
Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers J.P. Nadda inaugurated the 14th edition of India Chem on 22 October 2026 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, NESCO, Mumbai. The event is organised by the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals with FICCI, under the theme "Advantage Bharat: An Emerging Global Chemicals Hub". Japan is the partner country.
Nadda called the proposed BHAVYA (Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojana) Rasayan Scheme a potential game changer for the sector. It is meant to support three dedicated chemical parks, with connectivity to ports, railways, airports and roads and integrated value chains. Minister of State Anupriya Patel said state participation is essential to implement it. No financial outlay was announced in the reports.
Other points from the inaugural session: • The Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha presented investment opportunities in their states. Partner states are Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. • Coverage cited projections of a USD 300 billion Indian chemical industry by 2030 and USD 1 trillion by 2040. • FICCI and EY released a knowledge paper. The organisers expected more than 200 exhibitors and over 8,000 business visitors.
What it means for buyers and suppliers
The scheme is still a proposal, so nothing changes on the ground yet. Watch which states win the three parks: plants that cluster there with shared port and rail access should be able to offer lower delivered costs, and suppliers looking for new capacity sites will want to be early.
