India’s Organic and Inorganic Chemical Exports Rise 16.4% in August
After a difficult two years for Indian chemical makers, export numbers are one of the clearest signals that demand is coming back.
India's exports of organic and inorganic chemicals rose 16.38% in August 2026 to US$2.80 billion, from US$2.41 billion in August 2025, according to official trade data released on 16 September.
The wider picture is also strong: merchandise exports for April–August 2026-27 reached US$215.91 billion, up 17.85%, and total exports including services were estimated at US$399.27 billion, up 15.55% on the same period last year.
What it means for buyers and suppliers
Rising export demand tightens domestic availability for some intermediates and can firm up prices, especially for products where Indian makers are major global suppliers. Buyers on short-term contracts may want to secure volumes ahead of the peak season; exporters should watch freight and currency, which have been a large part of recent margin swings.
