Indo Amines Gets Conditional MPCB Approval to Restart Its Mahad Plant, Excluding TBU Production

The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has allowed Indo Amines Ltd to resume operations at its plant in Mahad, Raigad district, Maharashtra. The plant has been shut since 15 August 2026, when a gas leak killed two people.

The permission covers general industrial activities but explicitly excludes the production of Tertiary Butylamine (TBU) / Tetra Butyl Urea. Indo Amines has submitted a bank guarantee of ₹4 lakh to the MPCB and must strictly follow environmental and safety directives.

What it means for buyers and suppliers

Customers of Indo Amines' other Mahad products can expect supply to restart, but TBU (tertiary butylamine, used in rubber chemicals and agrochemical synthesis) stays off until the board lifts the exclusion. Buyers who relied on this plant for TBU should keep their alternative sources in place and ask the company for a written restart timeline.
