Shivam Chemicals Starts Feed-Grade Dicalcium Phosphate Production at Dahej

Behind every litre of milk and every egg is a feed formula — and phosphorus is one of its non-negotiables.

Shivam Chemicals Limited has started Phase I production of feed-grade Dicalcium Phosphate (DCP) at Dahej, Gujarat, through its subsidiary Shivam Chemicals & Minerals Private Limited. The unit has a production capacity of 5,000 MT per month.

DCP is an important source of phosphorus and calcium in animal nutrition and feed formulations. The company describes the unit as Phase I of its planned feed phosphate business, integrating manufacturing with its existing sales and distribution network. It complements the group's hydrated lime operations, which also run at about 5,000 MT a month.

What it means for buyers

For feed mills and premix makers in western India, a new domestic source of feed-grade DCP can mean shorter lead times and less dependence on distant suppliers. When qualifying any new DCP source, check the specification against your formulation — phosphorus and calcium content, fluorine and heavy-metal limits — and ask for a certificate of analysis with every lot.
