Symrise Adds World-Scale Globalide Musk Production Capacity in India
Symrise AG is investing in additional, world-scale production capacity in India for Globalide, a biodegradable macrocyclic musk used as a fragrance ingredient. The company announced the move from Holzminden, Germany, on 15 October 2026.
The investment strengthens Symrise's supply of Globalide, brings production closer to its customers in Asia and gives the company more flexibility across its global supply network. It is part of the Aroma Molecules business and Symrise's "ONE Symrise" strategy of targeted investment and profitable growth. The announcement gave no capacity figure, investment amount, site or start-up date.
"With the additional production capacity in India, we are moving closer to the fast-growing markets in Asia," said Keke Hiller, Global President Aroma Molecules. Michael Friede, President Scent & Care, said the investment "underlines our ambition to strengthen strategic product areas".
What it means for buyers and suppliers
Indian perfumers and consumer-goods makers who import musks may in time be able to source Globalide locally, with shorter lead times and no import freight. For Indian suppliers of intermediates, solvents, packaging and utilities, a world-scale aroma-chemical plant is a new long-term customer to approach once the site is known.
