Thermax Launches “Intelligent” Biomass Boilers Claiming Up to 10% Fuel Savings
Thermax has launched the Thermax-i series of intelligent boilers at Boiler India 2026 (8–10 October, CIDCO Exhibition Centre, Navi Mumbai). The first product, UltraPac-i, is a biomass-fired boiler that automatically responds to changes in fuel characteristics, ambient conditions and process demand.
The boiler uses Thermax's EDGE Control technology for real-time optimisation. Pilot installations showed fuel savings of up to 10%, the company says. EDGE Control can also be retrofitted to existing equipment, so plants can optimise without replacing the boiler.
"Our intelligent series of boilers represents the next evolution of that journey — combining our understanding of combustion and boilers with advanced analytics," said Ashish Bhandari, Managing Director & CEO, Thermax.
What it means for buyers and suppliers
Steam is a large running cost for most chemical plants, and biomass fuel quality varies from load to load. A 10% fuel saving on a mid-sized boiler can be worth more than many raw-material negotiations. Plants already running biomass boilers should ask about the retrofit option, and ask for pilot data from plants with similar fuel and load.
